Bounty Killer Fix His Crown On ‘King Of Kingston’ Cover Art & Put Artists On Notice

Published

on

Bounty Killer fix his dancehall crown on the cover art of his forthcoming album, King of Kingston. The dancehall legend used the opportunity to put every other artists dropping album this year on notice.

2021 has been the year for dancehall albums, and another major release is on the horizon. Veteran deejay Bounty Killer has announced that he will be dropping his hot new project, King of Kingston, sometime this year.

In true Bounty Killer style, the artiste gave the confirmation on Instagram yesterday (May 14), writing, “Y’album alerts the coming is near.”

The Warlord has been regarded as one of the most entertaining dancehall acts of his day, and he ensured that this stayed fresh in the minds of his followers, as he bashed other entertainers who have released albums this year.

“Side Note: Since everybody and dem granny making album this year all of a sudden let me make this clear all who and who dropping dem little dumpling thing dweet fast and move bcuz when GIANT a feed up a pudding pan kerosene tin business in other words the BIGGEST BADDEST and the BEST dancehall Y’album for the last two decades is…………..LOADING,” he wrote in the caption.

The timing of Bounty’s announcement, along with the shady message, had fans thinking the artiste was taking a jab at Alkaline, who released his “Top Prize” album yesterday. Despite the dig (intentional or not), it’s undeniable that Alkaline’s album has been making waves even before its launch. “Top Prize” has been trending both locally and internationally, becoming the #1 pre-ordered album on all major streaming platforms, including Amazon and iTunes, in the week before it launched.

Still, Bounty’s comments might not have been directed at the young artiste as several dancehall artists, both newcomers and veterans, have either launched or announced albums in the past few months. These include Vybz Kartel, Sean Paul, Masicka, Beenie Man, Shenseea, Popcaan, Jada Kingdom, and Intence.

It’s clear that Bounty’s album is one of the most highly anticipated. The comment section of his announcement was flooded with upbeat responses from fellow artists who expressed excitement about the album. Bugle commented, “Ready and a wait caz mi know it a go great [fire emojis].” Baby Cham also commented fire emojis, while Trelawny native Charly Black said, “Well turrrrrble [fire emojis].”

On another post that highlighted an image of Killer (which we assume is the album cover), Vybz Kartel also expressed anticipation, writing, “TPC [fire emojis].” The two have had their differences in the past but seem to have mended fences in recent years.

The deejay’s last album was Ghetto Dictionary: The Art of War, which was released in 2002.

Bounty Killer is one of the greatest of all time in dancehall. The legend, often referred to as The General, rose to fame in the early 1990s when he cemented himself as a gritty hardcore deejay from Seaview Gardens in Kingston. His him community likely helped inspired the title of the album, King of Kingston.

Since his early days as a ruthless hardcore deejay, Bounty Killer went on to become one of the most celebrated names who ever pick up the mic. With numerous classics under his belt including several international collabs, fans are clued in for his upcoming project.

Usain Bolt Wants To Marry Kasi Bennett ‘For Sure’, Talks Being A Father Of 3

Published

By

Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world, is looking to make things official with Kasi Bennett and get married in the future.

These days the sprint legend is less focused on his boots touching the Stobitan. He is more preoccupied with managing his endorsements, building businesses, making music, and last but certainly the highest on the list in terms of priority, being a great family man. Usain Bolt chatted with The Mirror days before the start of the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, where he gave fans an insight into his role as a dad to his three kids. The speedster leads with caution as he expresses that being a dad to 3 babies is no easy feat.

“Listen, three babies for sure. When they start crying all together, it’s like pandemonium. You don’t know what to do. So it’s difficult but it’s so worth it,” Bolt responded when questioned if fathering is harder than running a 100 dash in under 10 seconds.

Bolt shocked fans last month when he announced the arrival of twins Thunder and Saint Leo on Father’s Day. The 34-year-old shared that while he has been getting a lot of props for the names he selected, his girlfriend of 6 years needed a little bit of convincing.

“The rule was, when we were expecting Olympia, that if we had a girl Kasi got to name her. And if a boy, I got to name them. So that’s how it worked out. She wasn’t too hot on Thunder Bolt. But then she was like, ‘All right, let’s do it’,” he revealed.

While both parents are thrilled, some fans felt a bit jaded to know they had been kept out of the loop for the entirety of the pregnancy. Bolt explains that this was a strategic move to ensure Kasi Bennett was not pressured.

“People always want to ask questions or want to come over and hang out,” Bolt said. “The last time, people were like, ‘Oh my God’ and all over her on social media. And she just wanted to have a quiet pregnancy.”

Bolt hopes to keep his queen happy for eternity, as he declares, “I’m definitely going to get married in the future, for sure.”

His future plans also include seeing his children grow up and trodding their own paths, which doesn’t have to be a role in sports.

“People always tell you, the moment you get your first child it’s going to change your life,” Bolt said. “It’s something that I really appreciate and love. And I’m just really looking forward to seeing how they’re going to grow, or if they want to do track and field – or not do any sports.”

In addition to his very own Olympe Rosé champagne, Usain Bolt has recently partnered with Michelob Ultra to promote their ultra-light beer. No wonder the producer is able to kick back and relax to the sounds of his own productions. His most recent release is titled “It’s A Party” and features his usual sidekick and manager, NJ. The two have previously connected on “Living The Dream,” which scored over half a million views on Youtube. Bolt’s production house has also worked with some of the top names in dancehall on projects such as the Clockwork Riddim compilation released earlier this year.

“After all this work, if you don’t enjoy yourself, what’s the point?” Bolt.

Kanye West Fans Selling A Bag Of ‘Air From Donda Drop’ For $3K

Published

on

By

An exuberant Kanye West fan is selling air from the rapper’s Donda album drop on Thursday night.

The fan is selling what looks like a large Ziploc bag labeled “AIR FROM DONDA DROP” held up with Kanye West in the extreme background of the Mercedez Benz stadium in Atlanta.

The amount of money the seller is seeking for the air is a whopping $3,333.33, which does not include the $4 shipping charge for the air.

Fans have been waiting patiently for the album to drop after Yeezy dropped a surprise collaboration featuring Jay-Z. However, in typical Kanye West style, fans have to wait as he teases the album release.

Kanye West, who is an inspiration to many as he moved from bankrupt rapper/ businessman to billionaire, is also a living legend that fans seem not to mind spending money over.

Fans have peeled out hundreds for the rapper’s designs which spans clothing of unique torn-up designs as well as his popular Adidas x Yeezy’s shoes.

Earlier in the year, a prototype of Kanye West’s Nike Air Yeezy 1 shoe that he wore at the 2008 Grammys was sold for $1.8 million.

The sneaker is apparently the most expensive public sale of a sneaker as it beats out Michael Jordan worn 1985 Air Jordan 1s worn by the basketball player.

That shoe sold for $560,000 in 2020.

The Yeezy prototype, however, is historic as it was the Air Yeezy 1 prototype that Kanye wore as a signal prior to his sneaker launch. Since then, the rapper has had his highs and lows in the business world, but like his idol Donald Trump, he has emerged as a dominant businessman with his brand stronger than ever.

Kanye’s Yeezys sneaker, and clothing ventures have performed so exceptionally that the businessman is now worth over a billion dollars. Earlier in 2021, Bloomberg estimated Kanye’s net worth to be between $3.2 billion and $4.7 billion. However, during his Donda listening event on Thursday night, Yeezy is heard rapping on one of the singles that he could give a dollar to everyone on earth! That’s seven billion-plus persons!

On the other hand, Kanye West is very protective of his brand and has sued many companies for having similar logos and products like his merchandise. However, maybe this fan is about gimmicks, and Donda air might be a joke after all.

Dancehall Artist Stacious Wins Jamaica Festival Song Competition 2021

Published

on

By

Dancehall singjay Stacious walked away with $3 million and a new accomplishment under her belt as she becomes one of a few women to win the prestigious Jamaica Festival Song Competition held annually by the Ministry of Culture and Entertainment in commemoration of Jamaica’s independence.

Stacious, whose real name is Stacey Scarlett Bryan, was crowned the winner for her entry “Jamaican Spirit” on Thursday night as she beat out formidable competitors for the title. The cheque was handed over by the Youth, Culture, and Entertainment Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange and a JCDC official.

She shared a video of herself celebrating with dancehall artiste I-Octane and other fans who posed with her as she holds up the massive trophy and also thanked her fans for their support.

“Guys, we did it, we did it. I just want to say thanks to everyone who voted, I appreciate the support, mi just happy, I don’t get speechless often and this is one of those moments,” Stacious said to her fans.

She previously spoke to the Jamaica Observer about her motivations in joining the competition, which was won by Buju Banton last year after the Ministry of Culture allowed entries from established artists as well in a bid to attract talent and quality back into the competition.

“I saw where a disconnect has developed where festival is concerned and I also saw where the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) is trying to garner the original love and participation from the public by going back to the format of having popular acts included but with a modern twist,” she said to the Observer.

Stacious added that she was a fan of the competition and even participated in one of its sub-competitions for Portmore and made it to the semi-finals. However, for Stacious, who has been in music for more than 15 years, joining the competition this year had a deeper meaning for her since she wanted to make history.

“In the 55 years of the Jamaica Festival Song Competition, a woman has only won once. So I would definitely love a chance to step things up there,” she said prior to winning.

Stacious also brought a new flavor to the competition as she mixed the old and new elements to bring fresh patriotism to Jamaicans.

“I decided to join the Jamaica Festival Song Competition because I realized there is a disconnect between the younger generation and the competition. I also want to show others who are looking to compete that their songs don’t have to sound like the last winning song,” she said in reference to Buju’s winning entry “I am Jamaican”.

“You can bring you to the table; a sound of inspiration; a sound that is simply celebrating who you are.”

Meanwhile, Stacious, who was backed by strong voters that helped her to win, noted that her song is a tribute to the strength and resilience of the Jamaican people.

“I want to highlight what makes Jamaica, Jamaica. The people and our resilience or creativity in making ends meet and our fighting spirit,” she explained.

Stacious became known after her hit single “Come Into My Room” with Mavado was released. Her other hits include “Falling Down” and “Touch Me Right.”

The finalists of this year’s competition were Candy, Pessoa, Althea Hewitt, Father Reece, Lutan Fyah, I Octane, DB, Tamo J, Dez-I Boyd, Reggae Maxx, and Fab 5.

Kanye West Gets His Own Day In Atlanta, Clark Atlanta Honors His Mother Donda West

Published

By

Kanye West gets his own day in Atlanta.

On the heels of his 10th studio album, Donda, preview at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Thursday night, the City of Atlanta is honoring the rapper in a one-of-a-kind way by declaring that July 22 is now Kanye West Day.

Thousands of fans attended the event, and even more Livestream it on Apple Music as Donda the highly anticipated album becomes ready for fans.

Kanye West has been noted as one of the G.O.A.T.S of this generation’s music and art, and following the mega event, the City of Atlanta showed its appreciation to the rap mogul with a plaque denoting the declaration of Kanye West Day.

A video of the ceremony shows Kanye West in red merino and trousers as he dons a nude face mask backstage after his performance and receiving the plaque as his estranged wife Kim Kardashian, his children, and members of the Kardashian clan look on.

Kanye West was born and raised in Atlanta until he was three years old, when his parents divorced. His parents Ray West is a resident of the City of Atlanta and was a photojournalist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, while his mother, Donda West, was a professor at Clark Atlanta University.

The rapper now lives between California with Kim and his children and Wyoming, where he owns a ranch home.

The new album is named after his late mother, Donda West, who passed away in 2007. However, there was an honor for his mother by Clark Atlanta University, where Donda spent a significant amount of time as a professor.

Right after the City of Atlanta’s proclamation, Kevin James, the President of ATL’s Historically Black College or University, Morris Brown College, handed over to Kanye a tribute to his mother, which he received on her behalf.

West’s mother, who taught at the school for nearly 20 years and served as Chair of the English Department, was conferred with the honorary resolution called the Dr. Donda West Meritorious Service to Morris Brown College.

According to James, Kanye’s mother began her teaching career at Morris Brown, one of the few historically black colleges founded in 1881 and remains the only college in the State of Georgia founded by Black people.

Meanwhile, reports are that the rapper became emotional while receiving the award but was happy to be surrounded by his family and children.

The rapper is due to drop his album Donda this evening at midnight as anxious fans excitedly waited for the release following the preview of the features.

Many online were posting and calling out the rapper to release the album right away.

“Kanye where it at man im sitting here waiting,” one fan posted on Twitter with an accompanying meme of a caulking cartoon character.

Others, however, shared hilarious memes as they said the artist had raised their hopes up but was delaying the album.

He is expected to perform over the weekend at Rolling Loud Miami to promote the album.
