Alexei Navalny, Russia’s opposition chief and a distinguished critic of the Kremlin, has been
detained at a Moscow airport moments after he landed from Germany.
Mr Navalny, 44, was returning to Russia 5 months after he was almost killed by a nerve agent assault, which he says President Vladimir Putin ordered. The Kremlin denies the allegation.
Video reveals Mr Navalny saying goodbye to his spouse Yulia, whereas his legal professionals asks why they don’t seem to be permitting her to affix him. Mr Navalny is then taken away alone at Sheremetyevo airport.
In an announcement Russia’s penitentiary service stated Mr Navalny “had been wished since 29 December 2020 for repeated violations of the probation interval”.
