Dominican Republic’s COVID-19 cases rise to 93,390, with 1,648 deaths

SANTO DOMINGO, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) — Dominican Republic health authorities reported on Friday that the number of cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country has risen to 93,390, with 1,648 deaths.

The Ministry of Public Health stated in a release that 426 new cases and 18 more deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

Additionally, the ministry reported that 233 people have been hospitalized in intensive care units.

According to authorities, over 72 percent of the cases registered were located in 12 municipalities in the country.

The Ministry of Public Health report added that the number of patients who have recovered from the disease rose from 64,347 to 65,285.
