England women: Netherlands boss Sarina Wiegman is preferred choice to succeed Phil Neville

Netherlands women’s manager Sarina Wiegman is the Football Association’s preferred choice to succeed Phil Neville as England’s head coach.

The FA is in negotiations with the former Netherlands midfielder, whose team won the 2017 European Championship and reached the 2019 World Cup final.

England-born ex-USA manager Jill Ellis, who has won the past two World Cups, is also thought to be in the running.

Wiegman, 50, has a contract with the Dutch FA until 2021.

More to follow.
