The Game paid tribute to the late Kobe Bryant with a tattoo on a prominent part of his body.
Los Angeles native The Game honored Lakers legend Kobe Bryant earlier this week by getting a face tattoo to show his admiration for the NBA star who recently lost his life in a tragic helicopter crash. The Compton rapper posted pictures of himself on his Instagram sitting in the tattoo chair while wearing a purple hoodie and Lakers jersey.
The finished tattoo featured a sideways number “8” above The Game’s eyebrow, invoking both Kobe’s original number and the symbol for infinity. He captioned the post, “F O R E V E R” alongside an infinity emoji.
The Game’s tattoo follows a similar tribute by 2 Chainz who opted to get Kobe’s number “24” tattooed across his legs earlier this week. Kobe Bryant began his career with the Lakers wearing the No. 8, during which time he helped the team win three NBA Finals victories in a row. However, starting in 2006, Bryant switched his number to 24 as a throwback to the jersey he wore in high school. He went on to lead the team to two more consecutive Finals victories and earn Finals MVP awards both times. The Los Angeles Lakers retired both of his jerseys in 2017.
Bryant’s sudden and tragic death has touched the hearts of people all over the world, but may be especially heartbreaking to Los Angeles natives who have looked up to Bryant as a local icon for two decades. Kobe was also close with several members of the hip-hop community, even dabbling in rap himself at one point. A memorial service honoring the lives of Kobe and his daughter Gianna, who also lost her life in the crash that killed a total of nine people, is set to take place on February 24 at Staples Center.
Nicki Minaj Looks Stunning In Pink In Trinidad
Nicki Minaj has never hidden her love for pink, and she wasn’t about to start when she returned to her home country.
The “Yikes” rapper was born in Trinidad and Tobago and lived with her grandmother in Saint James, Port of Spain, until she was five. Although she has proudly made a name for herself as a rapper from Queens (even naming her fourth studio album “Queen”), she has never forgotten the land of her birth.
Nicki Minaj ventured to Trinidad and Tobago this week and posted a snap of herself looking thoughtful but relaxed in Port of Spain. The 37-year-old did not caption the pic, but we think the image speaks for itself. Dressed head to toe in her favorite color, Nicki brought the pink fire by wearing a practically-neon bright wig, a striped pink and white jumpsuit, a floral cap, and matching bikini top, while clutching a magenta bag.
What is even more telling is that Nicki exposed her midriff. For the past few days, Nicki and her husband, Kenneth Petty, have been followed by rumors that she is expecting their first child. To be fair, Nicki was the one who gave us the idea in the first place… she posted a video to Instagram that included her man rubbing her belly ahead of their trip to the Caribbean island and previously teased that there is “a lot to celebrate”.
Nicki has attempted to shut down all pregnancy whispers, replying to fans’ questions in her IG with, “Why I feel like I’m about to get a beating? Y’all swear y’all my mother chile. I’m pregnant with so many ideas for this album. It’ll be my best.”
She seems to be emphasizing this even further by showing off how flat her stomach is while on vacation.
Meek Mill Declares The Death Of Wack Music In 2020
Meek Mill has some great music plans for his fans this year.
Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill‘s Dream Chasers record label has been a success so far with talents like Yung Ro doing so well. Meek has also been working on his own music which he promises will have more substance. Just this month, Meek Mill released a new song with Justin Timberlake called “Believe.” The inspiring new track is an uplifting anthem that comes from a genuine place rather than that of vanity which has become more frequent in hip-hop music.
Meek Mill himself has been guilty of talking about his foreign cars, icy jewelry and luxury bachelor pads himself but the rapper says he is done with music that has no meaning. Meek took to Twitter to proclaim the end of trash music for 2020. “This year wack music will perish,” he tweeted.
After a social media trolling feud with his ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj, it seems Meek was headed down the wrong path for a minute there but it looks like rapper knows what he’s about. Meek Mill has a lot to look forward to this year with his label producing some pretty great artists as he releases his own material as well. The Philly rapper also has a baby on the way with his partner Milano, CEO of Milano De Rouge and Philadelphia native as well.
The social media era has made music much more accessible for fans and much more marketable for artists. That being said, it’s great that Meek Mill has found purpose to promoting the right messages through song. We can’t wait to hear what else he has planned for 2020.

Drake Reference Track Leaks From Dr. Dre’s Unreleased Album
While Drake’s songwriting abilities have been questioned in the past, we continue to see more proof that he is an extremely skilled lyricist.
It seems a reference track written by Drake and intended for Dr. Dre’s unreleased album, Detox, has leaked. The location of the leaked track is unclear, but reports have surfaced claiming that the song is floating around the web along with the reference track for PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Don’t Run”.
The timeline of Dr. Dre’s Detox suggests that the track written by Drake was likely created in the early 2000s. Dre enjoyed incredible success in those years after establishing Aftermath Entertainment and debuting Eminem’s first album, The Slim Shady LP. Dre’s second solo album, 2001, brought us some of the most memorable songs of the time period, including, “Still D.R.E.”, “The Next Episode”, and “Xxxplosive”. Shorty after all this recognition, Dre announced his third studio album, which he often referred to as his intended final album.
According to reports, Dre spent the next decade working on tracks with more than twenty rappers, singers, and producers including Eminem, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Kendrick Lamar, T.I., Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Mary J. Blige. Dre seemed to go back and forth on whether to release the album before deciding that the project would never see the light of day.
The concept of Dre hiring writers for his expertly produced tracks is nothing new, considering the hip-hop legend has always described himself as more of a producer than a rapper. Despite claims that Drake hired a ghostwriter for several of his tracks on If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Drake has actually been credited with several songwriting accolades, even recently being recognized by Snoop Dogg for his songwriting on an old Alicia Keys track.
Fans aren’t sure what to make of this new information regarding Detox, but we can only hope talks of releasing the album will be ignited once again.
Kendrick Lamar And The Weeknd Sued Over Black Panther Hit Track ‘Pray for Me’
One of Kendrick Lamar’s biggest hits is now at the center of a heated lawsuit.
The Brooklyn band Yeasayer is accusing Kendrick Lamar and the Weeknd of copyright infringement for their 2018 track, “Pray For Me.” Yeasayer claims the mega-stars stole vocals from them to enhance the chorus for their hit track for Black Panther.
The now-defunct experimental, rock band, Yeasayer, is suing mega-stars Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd for copyright infringement for their collaboration on the 2018 Black Panther soundtrack “Pray for Me.” In the suit, Yeasayer claims the song infringes on the band’s 2007 track, “Sunrise.”
According to TMZ, the legal documents state that “Pray For Me” contains an unaccredited sample of “Sunrise.” The portion in question is described in the lawsuit as a “distinctive choral performance… comprised of male voices singing in their highest registers, with animated, pulsing vibrato.” According to the band, which split-up in December (2019), says the sample appeared in the Black Panther track in as many as eight different places.
The band alleges that the Weeknd, Lamar and the rest of the creative team behind “Pray for Me” took the snippet of “Sunrise,” reworked the vocals and then used the material in a “substantial portion” of “Pray for Me.” Along with Lamar and the Weekend, Yeasayer’s suit names “Pray for Me,” producers Doc McKinney and Frank Dukes as defendants.
While many fans may have thought the echoing high-pitched howl stemmed from the Weeknd, Yeasayer claims the vocals are their own.
Yeasayer wants all sales to stop and for the record to be taken off the shelves. The band members are also seeking licensing rights of the song, and an undisclosed amount in damages and the profits from “Pray for Me.”
TMZ reached out to both Kendrick and The Weeknd’s teams for comment but received no response.
XXXTentacion’s Mom Cleopatra Gets Restraining Order Against Relentless Stalker
Cleopatra Bernard, the mother of XXXTentacion, finally gets a restraining order against a relentless stalker.
The mother of late rapper XXXTentacion, Cleopatra Bernard, has been granted a restraining order against an alleged stalker who has been lurking around her home in Florida, even trying to break in on several occasions. According to The Blast, the suspect, a 24-year-old man named Donavon Banton, claims that he is being contacted by the deceased rapper and forced to reach out to Cleopatra. Banton says that XXXTentacion is sending him “sadistic messages” and that the only way to stop them is to get to his mother. He also claims that Cleopatra “possessed him by the use of witchcraft and is using witchcraft to spiritually attack him.”
Banton has allegedly shown up at Bernard’s residence at least three times, one time arriving armed with a brick and smashing windows of the house and nearby vehicles. During his last attempt, Banton was found outside the home, holding a small ax, pry bar, and two pairs of gloves.
Banton was arrested and booked on charges of felony burglary, possession of burglary tools with intent to use, stalking, and criminal mischief. He is currently being held while awaiting a hearing. Meanwhile, Cleopatra is hoping an order of protection against stalking violence will be enough to keep the seemingly deranged man away once he is released.
XXXTentacion, whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, was gunned down during a robbery at the age of twenty in 2018. Onfroy was born to Jamaican parents but mostly raised by his grandmother due to personal issues his mother struggled with when he was a child. Since his death, his former girlfriend has come forward to claim that he fathered her child, which a paternity test has since confirmed. Despite being resistant to the claims at first, Cleopatra is now very involved in her grandchild’s life. Hopefully, she will be able to enjoy some peace in her life going forward.
