Rihanna New Dancehall Album Gets Release Date, December 2019

Published

on

Rihanna new album is reportedly set for release in December 2019.

After over a year and a half of speculations, Rihanna‘s highly anticipated dancehall album may have finally got a release date. According to some tweets yesterday from executives at Universal Music France, the Bajan pop star will release her album in December of this year. CEO of Universal Music France, Olivier Nusse, announced at the company’s annual “Open Session” in Paris on Friday a list of artistes who are on the verge of release albums.

Drake, Migos, The Weeknd, and Rihanna are among the list of names with albums coming this fall. The Navys are still skeptical since the news did not come from RiRi herself or her management team. Nevertheless, UMF word has a lot of power in the industry, so the album may be finally coming to fruition after months of waiting and begging from her fans to drop the project. French journalist Steven Ballery also tweeted out, “The new album of Rihanna will be released in December!” That tweet was translated from French.

Buju Banton and Rihanna

Rihanna has been mummed on the release date of her new album, saying that she doesn’t yet know when it will arrive, but assured fans that it’s coming. She has been working with several reggae/dancehall artistes, songwriters, and producers over the past year as she tried to put the project together.

Last month, dancehall artiste/producer Demarco confirmed that he wrote a song for Rihanna recently. “Me just write some music fi, Rihanna,” Demarco said in an interview with Anthony Miller of ER. That’s the first real confirmation we got this summer that the album is coming and it will be heavily influenced by dancehall music.

It will be interesting to see which other dancehall artistes will be featured on the project. There are some unconfirmed reports that RiRi is also looking to work with dancehall teenage sensation Koffee on the project. She might even be working with Buju Banton based on some songs she previously registered.

Popcaan Drops New Song “Block Traffic” Ahead Of New Album

Published

By

Popcaan’s newest track “Block Traffic” could easily be a traffic jam anthem, you know, that track that you turn up to as you wait for the road to be cleared.

Jokes aside, Popcaan comes out swinging on this one as he covers the now-familiar dancehall topics, of riches, how the females perceive you, and the art of defending one’s self. Even though Poppi employs a flow we already know, but it still doesn’t take anything away from the artistry of all the persons involved in the making of the song.

The “Numbers Don’t Lie” artiste always finds a way to leave his listeners with something to think about, and “Block Traffic” isn’t any different. He drops bars after bars of solid, hard-hitting lyrics, while he lets us in on which set of ladies has eyes for him. “African gyal wa gi We daughter, true me fulla Blueprint like Mr. Carter,” he deejays as he drops a pretty clever Jay-Z inspired line.

It would be quite unsavory to type all of the wonderful punchlines the artiste has included in the track. Furthermore, it’s always best to support the artiste by streaming their track from their Youtube page or purchasing from the various outlets.

The Unruly boss’ outfit of Unruly Ent. teamed up with Sasaine Music Records to complete “Block Traffic.” Dohnzhey Grindley from the Sasaine Music camp also played a part in the recording of “Father God Ah Lead” on Popcaan’s Vanquish compilation.

Rygin King drops new single “King Nah Leave.”

The chemistry and vibrations shared between two creatives forces is truly a beautiful thing when it is made to blossom and grow. Montego Bay-based ‘Trap King’ Rygin King has been working with producer TipGod, since the early days of his career, and the partnership has been at the root of some of Rygin’s most loved tracks. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it is the message, as the two teams up once more to drop, “King Nah Leave.”

The artiste confesses that he will not leave or forget the day one’s who motivated him to “step out” and find the hits to be successful.

“A thousand shall stand by your side – a hundred may fall by your right hand / but no matter wa hurt beside me still have belief cause man a lion in the jungle dem a python.,” sings the “7Teen” singer in the opening lines of the track.

TipGod definitely knows how to touch the emotions of his listeners by providing a slow, piano infused beats, which Rygin King used to showcase his emotions from the very opening second of the track. The calm but somber mood is maintained throughout the entire 2 minutes and 46 seconds of the song.

The track his truly nostalgic not only in the lyrical component but also the mood, as we seemingly trod back in time to 2016-17 when the artiste was just on the brink of stardom. The raw passion felt as he sings each line is somewhat reminiscent of his hit single “How Mi Grow,” one of his biggest tracks.

The Weeknd Speak On His On And Off Relationship With Drugs

Published

By

The Weeknd has had a few on-off relationships in his life. One is with Bella Hadid, the other with drugs.

The “After Hours” singer has never shied away from his dark history with narcotics. He previously revealed to The Guardian in 2016, “Drugs were a crutch for me. There were songs on my first record that were seven minutes long, rambling – whatever thoughts I was having when I was under the influence at the time. I’ll be completely honest with you. The past couple of albums, I do get back to that. Even on this new album. You have writer’s block. And sometimes you’re like, I can’t do this sober.”

The last few years have seen The Weeknd tread the straight and narrow. He removed the term “xo” from his social media handles, which some alleged was a reference to “ecstasy” and “oxycodone” and even branched into acting by starring in the Safdie Brothers’ film, “Uncut Gems.” Having just turned 30, the Grammy Award winner is now about to drop his fourth studio album, “After Hours.” With the singles, “Heartless” and “Blinding Light” already receiving airplay in anticipation of the March 20th release, The Weeknd was asked if drugs still play a role in his creative process.

“I have an off-and-on relationship with it,” he told CR MEN. “It doesn’t consume my life but occasionally helps me open up my mind, especially when I’m creating, but when I perform I’m completely sober and try not to even drink. I’ve learned to balance thanks to touring.”

In addition to the new album, the Canadian is also scheduled to embark on a 57 show tour. The After Hours Tour will begin in June and see the singer travel through North America and Europe until mid-November. Sabrina Claudio, Don Toliver, and 88Glam will join him on tour.

Pop Smoke Was On Edge About Gang Members Days Before Murder

Published

By

Pop Smoke was reportedly on edge about gang members just days before his death.

The world reacted with shock last week when news of the young rapper’s passing broke. Bashar Jackson, better known as Pop Smoke, was killed in a home invasion early on Wednesday morning when four individuals entered his Hollywood Hills home. Shots were fired in what police believe was an attempted robbery, and the “Welcome to the Party” rapper was transported to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he died as a result of the human shot wound to his chest.

It seems, now, that Pop Smoke had a feeling that something was coming… The 20-year-old was scheduled to perform in Brooklyn the weekend before his death but canceled the concert at the last minute.

“Unfortunately NYPD wouldn’t let me perform,” he wrote on Instagram, but TMZ is now claiming that is not true. The media outlet says that the cops had no involvement in the decision, and that Pop made the call because he feared there were gang members in the audience. The concern becomes even more real when you consider that the artist’s murder appears to have been a hit.

In the weeks leading up to Pop Smoke’s death, he had been arrested for allegedly stealing a Rolls-Royce and taking it across state lines. The luxury car had been lent to the rapper by the owner whom he met at a recording studio. The pair reportedly agreed that Pop could use the car for his music video, and in return, the owner would be treated like a VIP at one of Pop’s performances.

Months went by, and the artist went AWOL, leading to the Rolls owner reporting the vehicle missing when it wasn’t returned to his possession. When police caught up with Pop, they arrested and charged him, with him facing a possibility of a decade behind bars. He was ultimately released on bail of $250,000 after putting down his mom’s Brooklyn home as collateral.

Yo Gotti Day Declared For February 22nd In St Louis

Published

By

Rapper Yo Gotti is showing us what it means to turn your life around and give back to your community. The Memphis rapper has once again received a priceless accolade, the keys to a city, and having another day named after him.

2017 was a major year for Yo Gotti, and he celebrated it in fine style like he always does by keeping his birthnight bash. The fans in attendance were treated to a pleasant and uplifting surprise when the rapper was approached on stage by Shelby County Commissioner Eddie Jones, who blessed him with the keys to the city and declared June 29th as “Yo Gotti Day.”

Now 3 years later, Gotti is still doing good in his neighborhoods, and now has another set of keys to walk around with, and another special to give thanks for. The city of St. Louis in Missouri recently declared February 22nd as “Yo Gotti Day,” and it seems that the rapper couldn’t be more appreciative.

“A kid from Ridgecrest Apt. Dat they only associate with Trap Music & life. I just wanted to get sum $ and get My Ppl out da hood. Thru talent and Hustle We Did Dat & More! Now we accomplish things that wasn’t even a part of the plan#Bless,” penned Gotti.

“S/o to the Mayor of St. Louis, East St. Louis & City of Dellwood and Derrick Green [100%],” he continued as he showed some love.

Yo Gotti, whose real name is Mario Giden Mims, grew up in the gang-dominated Ridgecrest Apartments in Frayser. While his career grew in leaps and bounds in the early 2000s, he has actually been a staple in the rap game since 1996, when he went by the stage name Lil Yo. “Since he became successful, the Trezevant High School graduate has been using his wealth to start businesses to employ Memphians, and he’s given back to the city in many ways,” according to The Commercial Appeal. Along with his flipping houses and restaurants, the “Act Right” rapper has also teamed up with EA Sport’s subsidiary, Faze Clan.

Gotti’s work doesn’t only stop at providing low-income housing or jobs, and during a January 2020 interview with The Business Insider, Gotti shared how he partnered with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation to “help more than a dozen Mississippi prisoners sue the state prison system over its conditions.”

Safe to say that he has been racking up some steady cool points as he portrays that it is what you do with the fruits of your labor that define your character.
