Cyril Ramaphosa has officially taken the oath of office as president of South Africa at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.
Ramaphosa was sworn in by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng in front of a crowd thirty thousand people, including African dignitaries.
“I, Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, swear that I will be faithful to the Republic of South Africa and will obey, observe, uphold and maintain the Constitution and all laws of the Republic,” he said in front of 30 000 people.
Following Ramaphosa’s inauguration, the focus will now be on his new Cabinet. Until the president appoints new ministers and deputies, the current Cabinet will continue to function.
Ramaphosa expected to announce his Cabinet on Sunday.
