1. Jamaica’s public debt to fall below 100% for the first time in 18 years — IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says Jamaica’s public debt is projected to fall to 98.7 per cent this financial year, the first time since 2000-1 that the figure will be below 100 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP).

2. ‘No local cases of measles,’ Tufton insists

Minister of Health Dr Christopher Tufton this afternoon advised the country that his ministry is monitoring the island for any imported case of measles.

3. Triple killing in Manchester

The community of Top Bellefield in Manchester was plunged into mourning this morning as residents woke up to news of the gruesome killing of three of their own.

4. CARPHA urges regional population to get vaccinated

The Trinidad-based Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is urging the region to ensure that its vaccination coverage remains at 95 per cent or more, noting that immunisation is one of the most successful and cost-effective public health interventions.’

5. Cops target guns, drugs in three parishes over Easter Weekend

The police are reporting success in Easter weekend operations that targeted illegal firearms and the illegal/unlicensed cultivation of marijuana in sections of Clarendon, Manchester and St Thomas.

6. Cops seize firearm after confrontation with gunman in Bull Bay

The police seized a 9mm Browning pistol in Cane River, Bull Bay in Kingston after a reported confrontation with a gunman Sunday night.

7. Eight killed in fatal crashes over Easter weekend

Eight people were killed in eight fatal crashes over the four-day Easter weekend, pushing road fatalities to 139 since the start of the year, according to the latest statistics from the Road Safety Unit (RSU).

8. 22-y-o man shot dead in Spanish Town

Police are probing the shooting death of 22-year-old Tafari Beckham also known as “Bingy” of Homestead in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Sunday night.

9. Police/JDF search for missing Manchester teen

The police in Manchester along with the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard are now trying to locate the body of a male teen who is suspected to have drowned yesterday.

10. Policeman killed in Clarendon crash

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has been plunged into mourning following the death of a policeman in a motor vehicle crash along the May Pen leg of the PJ Patterson Highway in Clarendon this morning.
