Two arrested for cocaine seizure in Rocky Point

DETECTIVES assigned to the Narcotics Division arrested and charged two men for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act in connection with the seizure of approximately two kilograms of cocaine in Rocky Point district, Clarendon on Tuesday.

Charged are farmers: 30-year-old Dwayne Thomas of Warminster district, and 32-year-old Andrew Prince of Content district, both in St Elizabeth. They are charged with:

• Possession of cocaine;

• Dealing in cocaine; and

• Trafficking cocaine.

Police said about 10:40 am the team was conducting an operation in the area during which a Toyota Corolla motor car was intercepted and searched. The search yielded two rectangular parcels with cocaine. Thomas and Prince were arrested and the vehicle and drugs were seized.

The illegal drug, police said, has an estimated street value of $2.2 million.

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Clarendon Parish Court on Thursday, April 4.
