A much-changed Banyana Banyana fell 4-1 to Korea DPR on Friday evening. The result leaves them bottom of Group A and the chance of a good finish in the Cyprus Cup looking precarious.
Coach Desiree Ellis made six changes after the opening 2-2 draw with Finland.
Goalkeeper Kaylin Swart came in for Andile Dlamini while Bambanani Mbane, Mamello Makhabane, Thembi Kgatlana and Linda Motlhalo replaced Nothando Vilakazi, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Busisiwe Ndimeni, Tiisetso Makhubela and Karabo Dhlamini.
Banyana’s undoing came in a terrible first half as they found themselves 4-0 down within the first 35 minutes. Lebogang Ramalepe found a consolation shortly after the second period began but the side could do no more to sugarcoat the bad result.
Tough encounter today against a very organized and tactically disciplined team. Definitely not a result we wanted but a good lesson learnt. We still have some work to do as a team and I’m glad it happened now as we are still in preparation phase. Next up Czech Rep. https://t.co/UZyqIq73Nz

South Africa now have one more opportunity to salvage a good position in the Cyprus Cup – they take on the Czech Republic in what has surely become a must-win.
