France look to turn Twickenham tide

London – France will bid for a first win over England in the Six Nations at Twickenham since 2005 when the teams meet on Sunday.

It is 14 years since Dimitri Yachvili kicked all of France’s points via six penalties in a tense 18-17 victory at England’s headquarters, although Les Bleus did manage a 21-15 World Cup warm-up win at Twickenham in 2007.

In all France have won 11 out of 47 Tests against England at Twickenham, with 31 defeats and five draws since they first played at the southwest London ground back in 1911.

But that sequence does not include arguably their most famous Twickenham triumph when France, 24-10 down against a Jonah Lomu-inspired New Zealand, rallied to beat the All Blacks 43-31 in a stunning 1999 World Cup semi-final.

France’s overall record against England at Twickenham:

Played: 47

Won: 11

Lost: 31

Drawn: 5
