The Police Federation yesterday revealed that it has replaced Corporal Arleen McBean as its chairman in a restructuring of the leadership.

The news chairman is Inspector Sheldon Gordon, who advised of the changes in a message to the membership.

“The Central Committee of the Police Federation called a meeting of our branch boards leadership on Monday, January 28, 2019 at our offices. During this extraordinary meeting we had frank, factual and clear discussions on the state of the Police Federation,” Inspector Gordon stated in the message.

“At the end of our meeting our membership mandated us to assess the issues and address them in a fulsome way. On Tuesday, January 29, 2019 the full central executive of the Police Federation met and deliberated on our internal matters. At the end of these deliberations we agreed to restructure the leadership of the Police Federation,” Gordon explained.

He said that in addition his being made chairman of the federation, his previous office of general secretary is now occupied by former Legal Affairs Director Sergeant Patrae Rowe after an election.

“We thank our outgoing chairman, Corporal Arleen McBean, for her service. She remains a committed member of our team,” the federation said, adding that it expects the full support of the membership as the executive moves expeditiously to address the members’ concerns and welfare issues.
