Three years ago hotelier Christopher Issa purchased the property located at 7 Jimmy Cliff Boulevard in Montego Bay and immediately the entire city got excited. Fast forward to last Sunday when the snazzy S Hotel was finally unveiled to approximately 500 specially-invited guests in grand style.

Squeals of delight ricocheted off the walls of the hotel’s stunning lobby, and as guests moved throughout the property the excitement simply intensified. S Hotel employs a design sensibility that is evocative of another letter hotel — the W Hotel. Interior architects and designers Antrobus + Ramirez’s interpretation of the tropics is, in a word, breathtaking. Based on Issa’s success with the Spanish Court, S Hotel was built with the design being fundamental.

The S Hotel strays away from the usual resort town hotel model and is a welcomed addition to the second city. Master of ceremonies Janice Allen noted: “Cities grow because of economic stimulation by way of investments. Over the past three years and definitely going forward, the Montego Bay economy is being stimulated by the arrival of the S Hotel.”

S Hotel is a true city hotel and, according to Issa, will cater to the “citizens of the city, their families and friends”.
