International unified communications company Avaya has unveiled private cloud products that it believes will drive revenue in the space and boost cloud revenue to account for a quarter of total revenue by 2021.
The new private cloud delivery model of Avaya OneCloud solutions for unified communications-as-a-service and contact-centre-as-a-service provides enterprises with a fast, convenient and automated path to the benefits of cloud communications, it says.
The company adds the new Avaya OneCloud ReadyNow private cloud offerings take existing templates prebuilt in Avaya servers and fits them to the customer, cutting down development time from months to hours.
This was announced at Avaya’s annual Engage user conference, taking place in Austin, Texas this week.
In an interview with media in attendance at the conference, Avaya CEO Jim Chirico said last year Avaya’s cloud revenue encompassed 11% to 12% of overall revenue, which totalled around $300 million.
He said the new ReadyNow private cloud offering will play a significant role in moving larger customers to a cloud solution and help by reaching Avaya’s goal of $800 million in cloud revenue by 2021.
“If Avaya is able to move 10% of its 145 million UC [unified communications] and CC [contact centre] installed seats to cloud over the next three years, that represents $1.4 billion.”
The Avaya OneCloud private offering is being introduced as part of the new Avaya Intelligent Xperiences solution naming architecture unveiled this week.
Avaya says it has heard from many customers that they are interested in the benefits of what public cloud technology can offer, such as flexibility and speed of deployment, but have security and control concerns. This is why the company is taking a flexible, hybrid approach to the cloud with these new solutions to meet the needs of small businesses up to the largest global implementations.

The company says Avaya OneCloud ReadyNow offers the easiest path to cloud for established on-premises businesses; enterprise-level solutions with reduced complexity and cost; custom solutions designed for specific businesses, rather than one-size-fits-all; and an all-in-one service to run UC, CC, or both.
Avaya OneCloud UC and CC solutions are provided through a network of data centres in the US, Germany and Singapore for availability in 34 countries, including SA.
